We are Afon Mêl. A small, family-run bee farm business based on the outskirts of New Quay, in West Wales. We produce award-winning mead and are the only meadery in the UK to have been awarded a Great Taste Golden Fork Award.
Keeping it natural since 1999
Since 1999, Sam Cooper and his family have been caring for honeybees in the beautiful, rural Ceredigion. It all began out of a boy’s love of beekeeping and has now turned into 500 beehives dotted across Wales. Transforming from a dairy farm to a bee farm it now hosts a Bees behind glass exhibition, coffee shop and gift shop making it the ideal visit for any nature enthusiast!
Mead is something that I would never think about drinking but this could stand up to any dessert wine. It's delicious.
